Lodge De Goede Verwachting is a Regular Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons. We observe the Constitution of the Grand Lodge of South Africa.
Lodge De Goede Verwachting was formed in Cape Town in 1908 under the Grand East of the Netherlands. It later became a Founder Lodge of the Grand Lodge of South Africa on its formation on Saturday, 18th February, 1961.
We meet every third Thursday of the month at Lodge De Goede Hoop, Bouquet St. Cape Town. Our installation is held on the third Thursday of August and we recess in December.
As a Lodge we take pride in our membership, which includes Masons of some sixty years as well as younger Brethren. Our ages range from late-twenties to late-eighties and we enjoy a membership of diverse religious backgrounds and professions. We focus on delivering precise, high quality Ritual and Ceremony and welcome healthy debate and discussion, in order to aid our personal quests for Truth.
Prospective candidates should view our Membership page which should answer most of your preliminary questions about Freemasonry, and provide further information on belonging to our Lodge in particular.
If you are interested in joining Freemasonry or are already a Freemason and need to find a new Lodge, please view our Contact Details and don't hesitate to contact our Secretary for more information.
